LET'S HELP OTHERS: BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Ghana-born, Canada-based social work expert advancing child welfare reform and supporting immigrant families navigating child protection systems
Dzifah Tamakloe is a child welfare advocate and educator dedicated to translating complex child welfare issues into clear, compassionate, and practical guidance for families and communities. Her mission is to bridge the gap between traditional cultural values and the legal, social, and emotional realities of raising safe and supported children, particularly for families navigating life in abroad.
What makes Dzifah’s work distinctive is the dual perspective that shapes everything she teaches and advocates.
Her lived experience forms the emotional foundation of her work. Dzifah grew up in the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Witnessing the realities faced by the children around her deeply moved her and inspired a lifelong promise: to become a voice for children who often go unheard. That experience instilled in her a deep commitment to dignity, belonging, and family-based care, principles that continue to guide her advocacy and community work today.
Her professional and academic journey provides the practical authority behind her work. Dzifah is currently pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) at Dalhousie University in Canada and brings over a decade of experience working with children, families, and communities. Her training and practice ensure that the insights, tools, and educational resources she shares are evidence-informed, grounded in child protection principles, and directly relevant to the realities families face when navigating systems in Canada.
This dual perspective allows Dzifah to translate the immigrant family experience for Canadian systems while also helping families better understand and confidently navigate those systems.
Beyond her writing and educational work, Dzifah is the founder of Charis Touch Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting orphans and vulnerable children. Her humanitarian work earned her the 2020 Amazing Woman Award, and she continues to contribute to global conversations on child welfare.
Through her Child Welfare Series, advocacy, and writing, Dzifah amplifies overlooked voices, shares meaningful insights, and champions family-based care as the foundation of effective child protection.
This website represents the evolution of her life’s journey and work. Here, readers will find reflections, research, and stories about children, families, and the systems that shape their lives. Her hope is that every post equips readers with knowledge and compassion so that together, we can all become stronger voices for children.
Outside of her advocacy and writing, Dzifah enjoys reading, cooking, visiting care homes, and listening to her favorite Hillsong worship songs. She is married to Yerebakia Choro.
